Nestled in the heart of the Caribbean, Tortola beckons travelers with promises of pristine beaches, azure waters, and breathtaking vistas. My recent island hopping escapade in the British Virgin Islands offered a tantalizing glimpse into the allure of this tropical paradise. Before indulging in the allure of Tortola’s renowned beaches, I embarked on a journey to the summit of Mount Sage. The ascent offered a breathtaking panorama of the island and its neighboring islands, including the enchanting Jost Van Dyke, the tranquil Virgin Gorda, and the elusive Anegada & St. Croix and other uninhabited islands. From this elevated perch, I marveled at the splendor of both the British and US Virgin Islands.  Upon descending from the heights of Mount Sage, I eagerly made my way to one of Tortola’s crown jewels: Cane Garden Beach. As the island’s most popular beach destination, it beckoned with its pristine sands and crystalline waters. Despite the bustling crowds, I found solace in the embrac

Island Hopping: St. Maarten/St. Martin

As I stepped off the ferry onto the picturesque island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, I knew I was in for an unforgettable adventure. Divided between the French and Dutch sides, this tiny gem in the northeastern Caribbean promised a wealth of experiences waiting to be discovered. My journey began in Philipsburg, where the vibrant energy of the island immediately enveloped me. The road stretched out, flanked by inviting beaches on one side and tantalizing eateries on the other. With so many options to choose from, I eagerly embarked on my island hopping escapade. My first stop was Dawns Beach, beckoning with its promise of pristine sands and crystalline waters. However, the aftermath of a recent hurricane had left the beach slightly rugged, adorned with scattered rocks. Heeding the advice of a friendly taxi driver, I decided to redirect my path towards Maho Beach. Despite warnings of its proximity to the airport and the gusts of sand stirred by landing planes, curiosity got the best of me.
